Lee Memorial Health System Licenses Geac(R) Active Client(TM) Solution; Geac's Web-Enabled Offerings Extend the Value of Enterprise Systems For Premiere Healthcare Organizations.

ATLANTA -- Geac Enterprise Solutions(TM), a leading provider of Web-enabled enterprise resource planning (ERP) software applications, today announced that the Lee Memorial Health System has recently licensed Geac's Active Client(TM) solution to deliver a Web-enabled front-end to its existing Geac(R) financial and human resources applications. Lee Memorial joins a long list of healthcare organizations, including Memorial Sloan-Kettering Institute, Saint Luke's - Shawnee Mission Health System and Hartford Hospital, that are leveraging Geac's Web-enabled solutions to deliver added value to their existing back-office systems and to meet industry demands for real-time information integration and eBusiness optimization.

One of the largest public health systems in the state of Florida, the Lee Memorial Health System selected the Active Client solution in February, 2002 to augment its existing M Series solution from Geac. Since 1988, Lee Memorial has used the M Series product suite to run its core financial and HR processes, including general ledger, accounts payable, purchasing, payroll, benefits, capital projects and fixed assets. Active Client will enable the healthcare organization to enhance productivity and usability by providing access to its M Series applications through a Web-enabled graphical user interface (GUI).

"Geac's Active Client solution offers us improved navigation of our existing IT systems through a user-friendly Windows environment," said Jeff Ward, manager of general financial information systems at Lee Memorial Health System. "By granting full information accessibility to the 5,400 internal and remote employees across all of our different locations, Active Client will enable us to streamline our business processes and reduce administrative efforts while, at the same time, boost productivity by providing access to critical processes via the Internet."

Healthcare organizations such as Lee Memorial face a growing need for increased data sharing and integration of financial and administrative processes, particularly critical to the coordination of patient care. In line with this fact, Gartner projects that ERP purchasing by healthcare provider organizations will increase 15 percent per year through 2003 (Michael Davis, Gartner, 2002). Web-enabled ERP solutions like Geac's Active Client and broader Active Access(TM) product suite are helping healthcare organizations to integrate many functions, including electronic requisitioning, human resources management and workflow, as well as financial and other management processes.

"Many of the nation's leading hospitals and healthcare organizations have found great value in the depth of services and stability of Geac's software. Our Active Client solution is fulfilling our customers and the industry's demand for access to mission-critical, back-end systems and its precious data via the Web," said Isobel Harris, senior vice president and general manager at Geac Enterprise Solutions. "By leveraging our deep vertical market expertise and customizable solutions, Geac will continue to help prestigious organizations like Lee Memorial Health System meet and support their information technology needs as the healthcare market evolves."

Active Client is a part of Geac's Active Access(TM) portfolio of Web- enabled, eBusiness solutions developed to further extend the reach of the company's ERP applications, providing customers with greater flexibility and ease-of-use. The Active Client GUI enables end users to access Geac applications anytime, anywhere through the Internet, thus streamlining administrative processes and improving overall business efficiency.
