Vic: Deakin hikes student fees by 25 per cent
MELBOURNE, Feb 29 AAP - Deakin University has confirmed it will increase student fees
by 25 per cent in most courses this year.
Other universities are expected to follow, but student and teacher unions warn the
hike will deter many students from tertiary education.
Deakin Vice-Chancellor Sally Walker insists the university will be ploughing the money
back into scholarships, academic staff and better facilities.
However, in recognition of a shortage of maths and science teachers, the university
had decided to charge teaching students no HECS …
